About me

My career in education began while I was still an undergraduate studying mathematics, when I began tutoring high school students, first in a volunteer capacity and eventually as a private math tutor. I quickly came to the realization that I needed a career that would allow me to apply the analytical, math-oriented side of my brain in a creative field, and that search led me to pattern making.

Today, my career is a combination of education, research, technical design, manufacturing, and work in film and costume. I teach courses in both pattern drafting and digital design at George Brown Polytechnic, where I have been fortunate to work with students from a diverse range of backgrounds. My experiences over nearly fifteen years as an educator have reinforced the importance of accessibility and clarity in my teaching practice.

Outside of teaching, I continue to collaborate with industry designers and makers to help bring ideas from concept to production. I have worked across many areas of the apparel industry—from tailoring and garment manufacturing, to technical design and costume—and each experience has shaped the way I approach both my work and my teaching. I continue to look for opportunities to refine my craft, to keep learning, and to share what I have learned with others.
